Grow your Mo’

Many charities use ribbons and badges – Movember uses the moustache. Founded in 2003, it is the only charity tackling men’s health issues globally, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental illness.

Movember encourages bros everywhere to grow their mo’s for the month of November, raising funds and awareness as they grow and groom – just like you would if you were running a marathon for example. Here’s how it works.

1. Grow and groom your moustache for 30 days, starting with a clean shaven face on 1st November.
2. Don't Fake it, no beards, no goatees and no fake moustaches.
3. Use your moustache to create conversation and raise awareness around men’s health issues – the more interesting the better (find inspiration at movember.com/get-involved/moustaches )!
4. Each Mo Bro Must conduct himself like a true gentleman.

A bit of background

Juan Pedro Domecq is a family company dedicated to the development and marketing of Iberian products. Since 1975 Juan Pedro Domecq have been breeding Iberian pigs on their farms in Seville, and for many years were operating on the supply side for different curing firms.  Finally in 2000, sure that they could produce a much superior product than what was available on the market, they set up their own trade name and took over each step of the production cycle. Before long their dream of creating and selling 100% luxury Pata Negra and gourmet derivative products was a reality.

So what is it that really puts Juan Pedro Domecq Pata Negra in a different league?  Well, several things!

• Their rearing: Juan Pedro Domecq pigs are raised free, roaming in the “Dehesa” (that’s Acorn woods to you and I), eating only natural products. They start and end their lives in “Montanera” (acorn feeding season), therefore enjoying more than double the legally required length of life, to be considered as “pure bellota” meat.

• The limited production: Juan Pedro Domecq production is limited to 3,000 pigs, based on a demanding selection process.

• The natural curing process: Juan Pedro Domecq rear their pigs on their farm estate in the Sierra of Huelva and cure their products in their cellars in the village of Jabugo, which, with its exceptional microclimate, they say produces the very best Iberico Ham. Their drying process is always “Grand Reserve”, with an average duration for hams of 42 months. Their Master Ham‐Maker (“Maestro Jamonero”) ensures the optimum curing of each piece, looking after them individually, day by day. A slow and natural process, supervised with attention to detail, to guarantee maximum quality.

• The direct control of the whole cycle: Juan Pedro Domecq controls all stages of the production process from the breeding and rearing of the pigs, to the selection and packaging of the product, which guarantees its consistent quality.
